Togtokh Chuluun

Dr. T. Chuluun works as Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development, the National University of Mongolia and Advisor to the Institute of Geography & Geoecology, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. He worked at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (1977-1991), Colorado State University (1991-2002), and at the National University of Mongolia since 2002. Dr. Chuluun served as a Member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific (2012-2018). Dr. Chuluun’s research activities address sustainability, adaptation and green development of social-ecological systems at local, national, regional and global scales. He proposed the inclusion of carbon dioxide emission per capita in the Human Development Index, publishing his article in Nature (Chuluun 2011). Dr. Chuluun is one of authors of the “Review of Targets for the Sustainable Development Goals: The Science Perspective” by the ICSU and ISSC (2015). Dr. Chuluun also contributed for science based policy development in Mongolia. Dr. Chuluun is an initiator and leader of the Green Development Policy, adopted by the Parliament of Mongolia on June 13, 2014. He served as a Director General of the Department for Green Development Planning and Policy of the Ministry of Environment and Green Development (2012-2013) and Science Advisor to the Minister of Environment and Green Development (2013-2014).
