Registration is free of charge. You can register yourself and also other colleagues (up to 10 people).

After you have registered, you will receive two emails: one from Eventbrite with your ticket, and 15 min later, one from SCHED inviting you to create your username and password (these will be your  SCHED login details to access the conference each time).

Once you have your SCHED login details, you can select the session(s) you would like to attend and be able to see the ZOOM link to join your selected sessions.

Dr Joanes Atela is the Director of Partnership at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and the lead for the Nairobi Risk Hub part of the Urban Multi-hazard Research and Policy Hub in Tomorrow’s Cities funded by UK’ Research and Innovation’ Global Challenge Research Fund (NUKRI-GCRF).

Joanes was also the Director of the Climate Change Programmme at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) where he transformed the programme to become among the best in the world, ranking third globally and the best in Africa according to the 2016 International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG) think tank rankings based on research and policy influence.

Based on his research excellence, Joanes is a member of the Strategic Advisory Group for the UK’ Research and Innovation’ Global Challenge Research Fund (UKRI-GCRF), Scientific Advisory Panel Member of Stockholm at 50+ and a Council member for the Elsevier Sustainable Development Resource Centre.

He is also the technical Lead of the African Union (AU) Green Innovation Framework where he has successfully led the development of an innovation framework to inform pursuit of green growth in African countries.

Joanes is passionate about research impact and currently convenes the Africa Research and Impact Network aimed at peer learning among African researchers and also founded a community empowerment movement in Kenya known as the Grassroot Impact Centre.

Joanes has PhD in Environment and Development from the University of Leeds, UK and MSc in resource management, University of Bonn.
