Peiling Yap

Chief Scientist
I-DAIR, Switzerland/Malaysia
Swiss epidemiologist, born and raised in Malaysia and Singapore, Dr. Yap is I-DAIR's Chief Scientist, where she is currently co-leading the research portfolio. She is, in particular, working with I-DAIR’s partners across the world on research topics such as pandemic preparedness and response, open health, anti-microbial resistance, and maternal and child health. Her recent research focuses on using mixed methodology in implementing and evaluating both analogue and digital public health interventions.
Passionate about community engagement through citizen science research (which refers to the practice of active public participation, collaboration, and co-creation in all aspects of scientific research), she is currently leading I-DAIR's efforts to develop a participatory research framework to improve pandemic preparedness and response through community participation in all aspects of research.
Before joining I-DAIR, Dr. Yap also has research experience in neglected tropical diseases, infectious diseases and public health, with focus on China and other parts of Asia. She has worked as a Senior Epidemiologist at the National Center for Infectious Diseases in Singapore and as an Epidemiologist at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, where she also earned her PhD in Epidemiology.
