Holywood – an ecclesiastical approach to forest management
Abstract
The Church of Sweden is one of the major forest manager in Sweden. The forest management should be efficient and contribute to the financial conditions for the Church of Sweden’s proclamation, but must be conducted in an ethical manner and be consistent with the church’s core values and also consider the interests of nature conservation and cultural heritage. This talk will focus on the challanges of forest management in a changing world and the balance between sometimes contrasting interests and demands. It will also give a brief description of how the forest management is carried out in practice and a short introduction to why the Church of Sweden manages forests at all.
