After you have registered, you will receive two emails: one from Eventbrite with your ticket, and 15 min later, one from SCHED inviting you to create your username and password (these will be your  SCHED login details to access the conference each time).

Once you have your SCHED login details, you can select the session(s) you would like to attend and be able to see the ZOOM link to join your selected sessions.

Topic: The grassroots revolution driving data science in Africa
Demand for data science and data engineering skills is exploding, and communities across Africa are stepping into the gaps left by government and academia in developing talent and solutions to meet this demand. Organisations like Zindi and Masakhane are providing n entire generation of aspiring young people the tools and opportunities needed to get ahead in a rapidly changing and highly competitive global field. In this session, representatives of these organisations will talk about being a part of a grassroots revolution driving how data science is learned and practiced, far from the bright lights of Silicon Valley. And you'll get a chance to hear about why community-driven and open-source data science and machine learning may be better than a top-down approach to address Africa's unique challenges
