Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly 77 (UNGA77)

This lecture will summarize INGSA most recent strategic plan focusing on our unique approach toward building capacity in effective science advice, including advices on SDGs, at local, regional and national levels with key roles for its chapters in Africa, South East Asia and Latin America. Our aim is now to complete our roaster of chapters by establishing two more, one in Europe and one in North America. The European chapter will likely focus its activities on investigating the roles of cultural aspects and language in ensuring more effective science advice and uptake by the authorities—this is in parallel to the creation of the first international French network in science advice supported by the Quebec government to be launched in Montreal in early November 2022. The North American chapter will aim to increase capacity in ‘practical’ science advice at local, city levels where needs are urgent on various fronts including climate changes, sustainable transportation, affordable housing and public safety to give a few examples linked to a number of SDGs.
One of elected vice-president, Dr SOLEDAD QUIROZ VALENZUELA from Chile will provide additional comments on the impacts of language and culture to ensure more effective uptake of science advice by high level policy makers and elected officials---critical to reach the ambitious SDGs locally as well as at the global level.
