In this session participants will meet with the next generation of global leaders from the UN General Assembly President’s Fellowship and UNITAR Global Diplomacy Initiative Fellowship programs (Class 2021 and 2022). The Fellows will share their thoughts on the role and contribution of science & science diplomacy to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN General Assembly President’s Fellowship for Harnessing Opportunities for Promoting Empowerment of youth (HOPE) is promoting youth engagement in multilateralism and support the next generation of diplomats, particularly from underrepresented countries at the United Nations. As the UN General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid said “This is a flagship initiative of the Presidency of Hope – one that is particularly close to my heart.......To invest in the future of multilateralism, we need to invest in our youth and bring them closer to the work of the UN.” UNITAR Global Diplomacy Initiative Fellowship program is a unique opportunity for young professionals to learn more about the Capacity for the 2030 Agenda, Strengthening multilateralism; advancing environmental sustainability and green development; promoting sustainable peace; and all 17 SDGs
