(REF 30280 - hybrid) Three Institutions Supporting Science and the SDGs

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

This panel will describe three representative science-based non-profit institutions supporting the Sustainable Development Goals using very different tools. Leaders from The Stimson Center in Washington DC, the STAR-TIDES global knowledge-sharing network at George Mason University, and the Kwajalein Atoll Sustainability Laboratory (KASL) in the Marshall Islands will describe their organization's charters and current research efforts.

While unique entities, each of the three uses science, engineering, the humanities, and indigenous perspectives to craft a planet-level understanding of the problems we face. Each then strives to build our human capacity for resilience with recognition of the value of ecosystem services to all species.

Using a participatory framework comprised of system science, indigenous collaboration, strategic policy development, and "applied hope," they each represent the range of global academic, industrial, and non-profit institutions using the full scope of human knowledge to achieve the SDGs. After brief presentations by each of the three organizations, the session will open to a wider audience discussion.
