Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly 77 (UNGA77)

The Kunming Declaration adopted into 2021 during the first part of the Conference of the Parties the Convention on Biodiversity emphasized that biodiversity, and the ecosystem functions and services it provides, support all forms of life on Earth and underpin our human and planetary health and well-being showing the crucial importance to protect the various ecosystems of the planet whether it is landscape (SDG15), seascape (SDG14) or the ecosystems existing at the transboundary river basin level.
The session aims at presenting the burning questions relating the protection of ecosystems that are echoing issues of concern in the region and province where Imibio, research institute on Biodiversity is located (Misiones, Argentina).
Hence, the session will tackle the issues of wildlife trade regulation, biodiversity corridors or invasive species and balance between agricultural areas and the forest which concern mainland ecosystems.
it will target the main legal issues regarding the regulation of ocean biodiversity through the negotiation of an international treaty on biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction, the issue of management of natural resources or of local community livelihood and marine protected areas.
It will then consider the transboundary regulation of biodiversity at the level of a river basin.
